Sediment filtration

A polypropylene mesh removes suspended particles — rust, sand, silt. The water arrives visibly clearer, but the invisible work has yet to begin.

Activated carbon

Chlorine, pesticides and volatile organic compounds bind to the porous carbon surface. Odour and taste soften. The membrane in the next stage is now protected.

RO membrane

Under pressure, water is forced through a semi-permeable membrane with pores measured in ten-thousandths of a micron. Heavy metals, dissolved salts and micro-contaminants are left behind.

An ultraviolet chamber sterilises anything that survived — bacteria, viruses, protozoa. The water is now biologically inert.
